My second trip to California, the first one was an eye opener. I was fortunate enough to visit it again.

My journey to the west coast of the United States of America lead me to places that are significant and iconic especially for an aspiring landscape photographer trying to break the international market.

All the photos that I have seen in the books of American and UK photographers like Joe Cornish, David Noton, Galen Rowell, Tim Fritzharris, Lee Frost, etc. have come to life. I was at awe by the beauty of the western coast landscapes.

This is my journey, my photographic saga, to a place I will surely miss when I go home to the Philippines.

Dynamic and a different foreground, this is my take of the Golden Gate bridge of San Francisco.

Visions

The ability to construct an image in your mind, to paste together elements and be able to isolate a scene to make it happen. This is the same spot as the previous link. A visualized image with reflections and crashing waves, a simple change of technique. A priceless capture.

How do you photograph a place that has been a monumental component of your learning curve. Where you can only see this place in books, photographs of the great Ansel Adams, Elliot Porter and the rest of the F64 club, Rodney Lough Jr., Galen Rowell, Marc Adamus, etc.

And as I was given an opportunity to visit the place..All I can say is that YOSEMITE is larger in real life. No books can contain and define how you view it.

As Charlie Waite said in the book, "Working the Light";

Great photography is always the result of courage and conviction. This is not knowing what is right for a given situation, BUT trusting in one's ability to make the very best of what is on offer.

This is the best vantage point to see both El Capitan, Sentinel rock, Bridalveil falls. A cold river with a great view of sunset. I was shooting together with 3 photographers who like me were willing to get the best position even to the point of getting wet.
