awesome!
At the moment I use my 550D to take snaps of the family and of anything that is cool as well as the kids doing stuff that demands to be kept for their 21st :P.
And I do a lot of testimonies for church - paired with an HPX170. Not much filmmaking presently - sadness.
I recently upgraded to an iMac and am not stuck accessing my external storage through USB - can you imagine that? Hoping that a cheaper Thunderbolt external will be available soon. However a drobo would certainly address by external storage problems - I'll fill it with the current drives and new ones if space.

:)

Free drobo? I could definitely use one of those for extra, striped backup. Don't want to lose the precious footage/photos from the 7D.

Thought that I would register for the Drobo promotion, but it also gives me a chance to get involved with interesting discussions with likeminded peeps. Just starting out with videography and saved up for a 5D MkII - so far am very impressed with the results but am a little non-plussed about the essential accessories that one needs for a new starter.
So far I've invested in a Zoom H4N recorder, tripod and thinking of getting a viewfinder...I now keep a regular eye on Planet 5D for tips and advice - so far so good!!

Man that would be a life-saver right now.

This is embarrassing to admit, but I do not have a full backup of my desktop, my image library expanded to the point that I had to start using my backup drives as storage and now my computer has 4 1TB drives with no safe backup! I'm running on borrowed time.

It's just that RAID storage is so darn expensive (since one does not want to cheap out on that sort of thing.

Here's to hope!

A drobo sure would come in handy to store all those great big 5d MkII files!
I love this site and find it inspiring and informative on an almost daily basis. Keep up the great work!

Sure! Might have to send it on the slow boat if you win tho :)

I tried to ship something a few weeks ago to NYC - an $1800 lens - UPS wanted $40 just to insure the thing!

I guess we americans are spoiled getting things without having to pay a ton for shipping.
